The Importance of Finding Purpose: A Personal Journey of Empowering Young Minds

“Find yourself a faith. It not just helps. It’s everything.”

As I watched the Netflix series ‘The Crown’ a long time ago, this quote mentioned in one of the episodes stuck with me. It deeply resonates with me and reflects my own beliefs, particularly in the context of my work with Edventures and the pursuit of finding purpose in life.

For me, having a purpose goes beyond mere motivation or short-term goals—it’s about discovering a guiding light, an anchor that provides meaning and direction to my existence. It means finding something that fills my waking hours with a sense of fulfilment, growth, and belonging. It also serves as a source of resilience during challenging times, pushing me forward because I know I am striving for something greater. And there have been numerous challenges along the way. Nevertheless, purpose provides the clarity and focus needed to navigate these challenges with a more clear mind.

Had it not been for my deep-rooted purpose to empower youth through entrepreneurship, I would not have been able to propel Edventures to its current position.

The evolution of my passion and purpose has been a gradual process, shaped by personal experiences, self-reflection and introspection. It began with an overwhelming frustration during my early endeavours into entrepreneurship. At the age of 19, I was determined to turn my Junior Achievement (JA) company into a legitimate business. Specifically, I wanted to turn our physical math book into a digital math app. Unfortunately, I encountered countless obstacles and a disappointing lack of support and guidance by the ecosystem, necessary to realise my vision.

This experience ignited a fire within me, as I recognised the pressing need for resources and mentorship to help aspiring young entrepreneurs bridge the gap between their ideas and tangible ventures. It was in that moment of frustration that my purpose started to take shape. I became resolute in my determination to create an environment where youths and young adults could receive the necessary support, guidance, and tools to turn their entrepreneurial dreams into successful endeavours.

Unfortunately, not everyone is fortunate enough to find work that aligns with their passions in life and provides a purpose. Many individuals must navigate different career paths and make compromises along the way. However, from my perspective, it is crucial to recognise that purpose can still be cultivated and infused into various aspects of life, even if it may not be fully realised in one’s professional endeavours. While it is true that not everyone discovers their purpose, this is precisely why I believe it is essential to invest time and energy into the journey of finding it.

Through my own experiences, I believe that purpose extends beyond monumental achievements; it can be found in the simplest aspects of everyday life. Aligning actions with purpose makes even mundane tasks meaningful and progress-oriented.

This journey of self-discovery and growth has shaped my unwavering commitment to empowering young minds through transformative entrepreneurial experiences. By equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to navigate the complexities of business, I strive to instill the confidence required to pursue their passions and create a positive impact in the world.

When it comes to finding purpose, many individuals discover a profound sense of meaning through their religious beliefs. While religion can provide a moral compass and serve as a guiding force, in my view, purpose extends beyond the boundaries of religious frameworks. Exploring diverse ideologies helped me find inspiration, guidance, and alignment with my purpose. This broader approach has allowed me to embrace a sense of purpose that encompasses my passions, values, and the impact I want to make in the world.

The frustration I felt in my early days has transformed into a driving force, propelling me forward in my mission to empower and equip young individuals with the tools they need to succeed as entrepreneurs. It is through this purpose, channeled through Edventures, I aim to create a lasting impact, inspiring youths to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations.

I hope that my passion and sense of purpose can transcend the app that we’re developing and in turn can instill a sense of purpose and passion among others.
