Dear Edventures community,
Starting the final quarter of 2023 in just a few days, we take a look back on what we’ve been up to since our last update.
July
July was a month of transition as we said farewell to Bolaji who joined us earlier on a trial to work with videographics and digital marketing. In terms of development, we shifted our focus to integrating the backend with our frontend. Despite the summer holidays in Europe, our dedicated team pushed forward to meet the deadline of completing the integration by the end of the month. We made significant progress, moving our whole user authentication backend from Firebase to Appwrite. This move was motivated by our aim to enhance data control, optimise scalability, and tailor our backend infrastructure to better suit the specific needs and evolving demands of our app. However, a few dependencies extended our timeline into August.
August
August was a month of holiday for the other half of the team along with occasional work. We finished our set up and integration of the user authentication backend, switching from Firebase to Appwrite. Making sure the data was stored properly and that the whole signup and sign in processes work smoothly. We started finalising tweaks needed for the Alpha launch regarding our chat capabilities,
In August, we found a balance between work and well-deserved breaks for half of our team. We successfully completed the integration of the user authentication backend, completing the switch to Appwrite. Our attention turned to refining the user experience, ensuring smooth signup, sign-in and account recovery processes, as well as enhancing our chat capabilities in preparation for the Alpha launch.
September
In September, something truly heartwarming happened—we had our first in-person meetup in Stockholm! As a bootstrapped, all-remote startup, this was a testament to everyone’s unwavering dedication to Edventures and our shared mission. Gathering all four of us in one place not only boosted teamwork but also strengthened our personal bonds.
We started out with a workshop, setting goals for the next 6 and 12 months, and discussing Edventures’ future, followed by hitting up a Korean joint for lunch. Then, of course, we had some Swedish ‘fika’ before we roamed around Stockholm, just enjoying the vibe and continuing to get to know each other. As the day turned into evening, we said our goodbyes, each heading home with a pocketful of memories and a whole bunch of enthusiasm for what’s to come at Edventures. It was surely a day to remember, marking a significant milestone on our journey.
September also brought its fair share of unexpected challenges, a hallmark of the startup journey. Although we made good progress in July and August, we encountered some bugs and integration issues connecting the backend with the frontend. Additionally, deployment setup demanded meticulous attention. Currently, we are just a few bugs away from the Alpha launch—a testament to our team’s dedication and perseverance.
Once we release the prototype for testing, we will actively gather feedback from our test users. If you are interested in participating and trying out our new prototype, please send us a message on any of our social media channels or via email. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to sharing more updates with you soon!
Live happily and prosper 🖖
