How Edventures Was Created? | Meet The Team: Alexander Zahari
We want to introduce you to the people behind Edventures, and for the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing the stories and “edventures” (get it? 😜) of our members, especially their journey to become a part of our company. Today we’ll start from the beginning, and tell you the history of how Edventures was created.
How it all started
Alexander Zahari is the CEO and Product Owner of Edventures. The idea for the company was only conceived in 2017, but his history with entrepreneurship began much earlier.
Due to a close relationship with an uncle who ran his own business, from an early age, Alexander became interested in the hows and whys of it. For this reason, in high school, he chose the school with the best entrepreneurship programme.
As part of a course that ran throughout his final year, he and three classmates created a company that sold digital maths books, called Easymath, and ran it for the whole year. The enterprise was a success, so after graduating, naturally, he looked for support and help to continue with the company. It was at this point that he encountered the first problem.
A rude awakening
While looking for the assistance needed, he felt overlooked and not taken seriously, seeing that every consultant was old and most of the time, closed-minded and biassed, mostly because their work experience had been shaped by working in just one field for many decades. This situation made him aware of what it’s like to be a young person trying to start and run a business. Because of it, he reached out to other budding entrepreneurs and asked them why they didn’t continue on their high school entrepreneurship projects, and understood their problems. This was the first step on the journey to Edventures.
“How can I find a solution where I can support young people on this journey in a way they can actually move forward?”
That was the moment where the first idea came, in the autumn of 2014, he set up a coworking space. But after a year, he realised he didn’t have the money or connections to make it succeed, and couldn’t help many people that way. For this reason, with the learnings gained during this time, Alexander started coaching and consulting in entrepreneurial matters, to help a larger number of youth entrepreneurs while still working “a normal” job.
The Edventures lightbuld moment
That’s when he encountered the second problem. The questions and issues that popped up while advising young entrepreneurs were always the same. So in 2017, the Edventures idea came up. In the beginning, the concept was a knowledge portal, similar to Google, tailored for entrepreneurship and business questions. Although it was a good idea, with time he realised it wasn’t very intuitive and interactive. So the search for better options kept going. The plan was to find a way to use technology to empower people, and more specifically youth and young adults. That was when the chatbot idea came up.
Later in 2018, he found a developer to help him bring his vision to life, but unfortunately, at the end of the following year, the contributor had to leave for a job opportunity. Therefore, in 2020, Alexander started looking for more people to compose the team, seeing the need of it for a big project like Edventures.
Edventures today
From there, the rest is history and Edventures is making progress day after day. We know that there’s so much information and data available online that could help people navigate the tricky road of being an entrepreneur. However, sometimes access to that data, and the application of it to your needs is not that easy. That’s where we come in.
Alexander understood the feeling of being lost, and that is precisely what moved him. We are developing artificial intelligence to help young entrepreneurs work better because we know and understand the troubles, the doubts and how scary the road of entrepreneurship can be. Our vision is a world where no idea is inhibited, and that’s what we are working towards.
