Dear Edventures community,
October had some ups and downs. We joined the Claude Startup programme, left the Supercharger Ventures accelerator, gave Alpha users a way to set goals and track their progress on a project, and made it clearer for users of their in-app usage.
If you’re just getting to know us, here’s a recap
Whether it’s your first or hundredth newsletter, I’m happy you’re here and following our journey toward becoming the global leader in entrepreneurship support, democratising entrepreneurship education and learning for all. You’re receiving this because we’ve been in touch for the past weeks, months, or maybe years, and because your interest, skills, experience and professional focus aligns with our mission and values.
Quick recap for newcomers: Edventures is a Sweden-based edtech startup building an educational AI coach, Anna, for first-time entrepreneurs. Anna gives founders personalised coaching and learning shaped around their idea, their needs and their challenges, while being designed to build founder agency and capability. We also support organisations and programmes, coaches and educators who help aspiring entrepreneurs.
Read on to discover this month’s latest updates and milestones. If you’re in a rush, below are the highlights you need to know about from this month.
TL;DR
- Accepted into the Claude Startup programme: a year of free premium Claude for four team members, plus $1,000 in API credits.
- Launched project progress tracking and stage goals in the Alpha app.
- Expanded market data to include 10-year entrepreneurial intent trends.
- Added usage meters to Alpha so founders can see how much of their plan they have used.
- Exploring new pilot discussions with connections in Singapore and Belgium.
🌍 Community
Regarding our ongoing partnerships, we are continuing talks with a major Indian organisation, where the letter of intent (LOI) is undergoing their internal review. We have also opened a handful of new discussions with connections in Singapore and Belgium for potential pilots.
In mid-October, I relocated to Greece and will be based here for the coming two months to do market research, connect with the entrepreneurship ecosystem, and to complete my 2nd bachelor’s, this one in psychology. My thesis explores mental barriers to, and perceptions of, entrepreneurship among Greek youths and young adults.
On the website, we added FAQ guidance on product use, organisations and referral terms, grouped so answers are easier to find, along with expanded team bios.
⚙️ Product Evolution
Alpha now helps founders set goals and track progress on a project. Founders can set specific goals for each project stage with suggestions from Anna, and a new progress bar shows completed and upcoming checkpoints. A dedicated progress page displays the full path, and onboarding now captures a founder’s business idea, current stage, purpose and commitment so the goals fit. To help Anna give more relevant coaching examples, we also added a life context field (such as studying or working) to user profiles.
Alpha also now shows founders how much of their plan they have used, with a usage ring in the chat composer and meters in the profile. Messages explain when limits reset, and founders who reach their project limit see a clear upgrade prompt.
💰 Funding activities
We were accepted into the Claude Startup programme, which became very popular shortly after it was announced. That programme gives us a full year of free premium Claude for up to four team members and $1,000 in API credits. Unrelated to us joining the Claude Startup programme, we chose to withdraw from the Supercharger Venture Cohort X accelerator because it did not deliver what we expected from it. Instead, we are putting more effort into our partner pilots, but continue to keep an eye out for new accelerator opportunities.
In our investor materials, we have significantly bolstered our market size data by adding rolling 10-year trends from three sources: the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) for entrepreneurial intent, the Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students’ Survey (GUESSS) for student entrepreneurship, and the World Bank Entrepreneurship Database (WBED) for new business registrations, plus new business density figures. This pipeline now fetches real data from highly relevant sources, and calculates our market data in a programmatic way.
💜 Team News
No standout team announcements this month; we kept our heads down building.
👀 What’s in the Pipeline for Next Month?
- Aiming to move the India LOI from their internal review toward a signed agreement and a pilot.
- Aiming to launch follow-ups and iterative coaching loops features.
- Continuing to refine how founders move through a topic with Anna in topic-based modes.
- Working towards the next round of training our own language model.
- Aiming to help founders develop their idea with the research tool we are building.
